Based in Berkeley, California, Lane McNab Interiors infuses a sophisticated sensibility into residential and commercial interiors. The firm specializes in primary and secondary homes, boutique retail spaces, and large scale projects with a vast knowledge of historical architecture. Opened in 2012, Lane McNab Interiors quickly outgrew their first location and moved to a spacious light filled studio near the renowned West Berkeley Fourth Street Shopping District.
LANE McNAB
Founder and Principal
A Southern transplant, Lane grew up in Tallahassee, FL and completed undergraduate studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Soon after she moved to the West Coast where she attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Graduating with advanced degrees in vocal performance, she pursued her music career spending several years as a highly-acclaimed operatic soprano in leading roles throughout the Bay Area.
After years of extensive travel and studies abroad, Lane left opera singing to manage the demands of a growing family. When she returned to the working world, she focused on her other artistic passion: designing interiors. Before founding Lane McNab Interiors in 2012, she apprenticed with a local design and construction firm as a designer and project manager which gave her an invaluable hands-on experience and a deep knowledge of the design and construction process.
A continuously curious learner with a passion for beauty, uniqueness, detail, and quality Lane has created a firm with a team of like-minded professionals giving her a devoted clientele and close relationships with vendors and tradespeople throughout the Bay Area. Her designs have been featured in numerous publications and tastemaker sites. When not passionately pursuing design, Lane spends her free time with her three children and three pets in their 115 year old house in Berkeley, CA.
Terri Briggs
Operations Director
Terri Briggs brings both business expertise and a love for interior design to her role at Lane McNab Interiors. A graduate of Texas A&M's Business School, she honed her management and organizational skills at Fortune 500 companies. After many years in the corporate world she took a few years off to raise her child. Drawing on a lifelong fascination with all things design, Terri joined LMI in 2014.
Brianna Banks-mclean
Designer
Brianna is a an Interior and Architectural Designer, working within the design field for over a decade. Her interests in sustainability and design began as a young adult. Inspired by her grandfather - a fellow designer, Brianna loves to think critically and inventively about the function and design of the structures we spend our lives enclosed in. She hopes to create spaces that are equally functional and alluring, while keeping a holistic design approach at the forefront of her work.
michelle li
Designer
Michelle Li studied Industrial Design with a focus in furniture design at the Academy of Art University, where she developed a passion for thoughtful problem solving and the relationship between form and function. Since joining Lane McNab Interiors in 2024, Michelle has enjoyed contributing to projects through design development, space planning, and material exploration.
Inspired by both travel and everyday experiences, Michelle loves discovering new environments, cultures, and architectural details that influence her creative perspective. She believes that travel opens the door to fresh ideas and new ways of thinking, often inspiring elements she brings back into her design work. Her curiosity and collaborative approach continue to shape her growing passion for interior design.

Designer
Sage's path to interiors started not in a design studio but in a dance studio — which might explain why she thinks about how a room feels in your body, not just how it photographs. She picked up an M.Arch at the University of Michigan and spent over a decade in architecture before deciding she preferred getting closer to the materials. She's lived and researched in France, Italy, Japan, and beyond, which gives her an eye for texture and nuance. Outside the office, she's practicing yoga, ice skating, and gardening when she can steal a moment — usually with her husband, two kids, parents, neighbors, and two cats.
